Chapter Zero: Our AI Coaching Wizard introduces a practical vision for using aquatics, coaching, reflection and artificial intelligence to make youth learning more visible. Written by Mark Rauterkus, the book connects swim pools, after-school programs, coaching education, public safety, youth leadership, badges, publishing and community partnerships.
The Coaching Wizard is not designed to replace coaches. It is designed to help coaches listen better, help learners reflect, help families understand progress and help schools, nonprofits and community partners see the value of aquatics.
The project begins with Pittsburgh Public Schools Arsenal School, the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation, International Swim Coaches Association, WAFSU.org and the Remake Learning Moonshot Grant. The larger invitation is for coaches, educators, parks leaders, parents, guardians and civic partners who believe pools can teach confidence, responsibility, safety, leadership and public learning.
Mark Rauterkus is a Pittsburgh-based coach, publisher, podcaster and advocate with 50 years of coaching experience. He has coached swimmers in club, school, college, masters, camp and community settings, including programs that produced state record-breakers in four states.
Mark’s work connects aquatics with public safety, youth development, coaching education and civic leadership. He collaborates with coaches from around the world through the International Swim Coaches Association and helps lead WAFSU.org, the World Aquatic Federation of Schools and Universities.
